Fig Cave, which takes its name from a fig tree located at the entrance of the cave, is located within the borders of Çınarlı Village. The age of the cave's gypsum layer is estimated to be 5 million years old. The formation of the cave is estimated to be between 150,000 and 200,000 years old. [ 1 ] It is naturally formed from gypsum. Inside, there are fascinating stalactites and stalagmites. The cave has a total length of 311 meters and today only 70 meters of it is illuminated and open to visitors. [ 2 ] The interior of the cave is cool with a natural air conditioner and maintains a constant temperature of 18-19 degrees throughout the year, making it feel warm in winter and cool in summer.
kantara castle
Kantara is situated to the east of the Buffavento Castle with the St. Hilarion Castle standing even farther to the west forming a protective axis in the Kyrenia mountain range of Cyprus. As both of the other castles are visible from Buffavento, it was used to pass signals between them. The castles were built in conjunction during the Byzantine period but the date of their commission remains unknown
kyrenia Harbour
Kyrenia, with its picturesque harbour and adjacent castle, is called the “Jewel of Cyprus”. It is, quite simply, exquisite! The town was probably founded circa tenth century BC and was one of the original city kingdoms. Its position on the north coast made it the ideal place to develop a harbour, and being only forty miles from the Turkish mainland it was perfectly situated on the trade route.
bellapais monastery
the ruin of a monastery built by Canons Regular in the 13th century on the northern side of the small village of Bellapais, now in Turkish-controlled Northern Cyprus a breakaway state which is recognised only by Turkey in an area legally belonging to the Republic of Cyprus, about five kilometres from the town of Kyrenia. The ruin is at an altitude of 220 m above sea level, and commands a long view down to Kyrenia and the Mediterranean sea.​
st Hilarion Castle
The Saint Hilarion Castle lies on the Kyrenia mountain range, in Cyprus. This location provided the castle with command of the pass road from Kyrenia to Nicosia. It is the best preserved ruin of the three former strongholds in the Kyrenia mountains, the other two being Kantara and Buffavento.
